Other Caching Schemes In the current (paper) edition of Wired magazine, there was a very interesting article on Akamai Technologies, Inc. ("Akamai" means "cool" in Hawaiian, in case anyone was wondering. That was in the article, I didn't know that fact myself...) Anyway, like I said, it's a really interesting article. Basically, Akamai has a scheme whereby Web content is distributed in different geographic areas, and their software determines which copy you should grab, depending upon your location, and loading on the particular servers.
