Re: "Yahoo posters saying Niles just hyped AMD and semis on CNBC!
Semis "have another 50% upside" in general.
AMD "may go to $100 within the next 2 months."sweet. AMD to 100 in 2 weeks, more like."

Comment: Yep, saw it also, and it was as above...preceded by interview where the "whisper number" guys talked up AMD's street of $1.09(?) versus whisper of $1.68(?) AMD was at the head of the list for companies whose "whispers" have been more accurate than the "streets". They talked about AMD having blown away "streets" the past 2 quarters and inferred the likelihood of that happenning once again in Q2...The "whisper guys" were followed by INTC's Barrett who was confronted on several occasions with questions about AMD's surprising flank attack in the first half, INTC's failure to forecast strong current first half demand and INTC's recent sale of a zillion MU shares...He took what has been INTC's party line over the past 8 months by promising some future-if-ever competitive product that would allow INTC to regain the lead in microprocessor technolgy (As I've been saying since these INTC promises first began escalating in frequency back in Oct. '99 (Gelsinger was then the messenger, now it's Barrett...crisis point approaching?), I'll believe INTC will regain the technology lead only when I see retail market quantities in place). With respect to incorrect planning for the firt half, he replied everyone was caught off guard...(I guess he was wishing Dresden away)...and with respect to explaining the rationale for MU share sales, his response was most curious and was something along the lines of some analogy of not wanting to say anything about the MU sales for the same reason one wouldn't want to say too much if one were beating one's wife...Bizzarre responses from my vantage point (i.e squarely in AMD's corner)...

I must say, though, that Dan Niles, who followed, did express a very optimistic outlook for INTC and AMD and the more general semi segmentin both the short and longer terms...He also couldn't seea semi slowdown before 12 to 18 months...Where is JJ and SSB today anyway?

By the way...What's this Nokia stuff all about???Do they really like AMD's flash division enough to go after AMD and secure the "world's leading and recently Nortel awarded flash supplier??? Interesting thought, take over the flash and spin off the microprocessor division...$150, no $200 per share anybody???
