I think we both expected what is going on with the Pals. It is this kind of lawless behavior, over a period of time, in conjunction with the pullback of the Israelis, that leaves the Euros with egg on their face for supporting them.

I would love to be Condi Rice over the next year. She is going to be in an excellent negotiating position.


Your conclusion greatly surprises me. Do you think the Eu-niks really expected anything different from the PA? They're not so daft. Who cares about the PA, anyway? Not them. No, the name of the game is getting leverage on the USA while posturing for their domestic audience. For this, supporting the PA (via the sacred "international community"), and blaming Israel for whatever goes wrong (easy as pie, they'll do it this time just like last, wait and see), comes in quite handy.

Maybe Condi can do something with Tony Blair. The others are hopeless.
