You are presuming (I think) that making drugs illegal somehow makes them unavailable. It has been my experience that drugs are easily available to anyone who wants them. One need not even go looking at certain stages in life, one just needs to say yes when they are offered. The amount of drugs in this country is staggering. Anyone with the slightest inclination or curiosity can, and usually does, explore that world. Illegal only makes them more expensive.

I'm not an expert on the subject, but I doubt that legalizing drugs would lead to more addiction. This despite the fact that I believe that addiction is a serious problem with major negative consequences to the addict, his/her family and friends, and society as a whole.
