CNBC reporting that AOL's worldwide membership at 15 million. Looks like they gained 1 million members in the past 2 months.

Bob Pisani, CNBC NYSE floor, reports that the AOL folks have asked him to move down further a bit for his floor reports. This is in anticipation of the large crowds expected at the AOL counter for the next few days.

The reason the ordinary investor would like to put their money in the AOL stock is everyone can identify with AOL; senior citizens, children etc. I have my sons and my nephews using AOL to chat, send emails, exchange their school work etc. They also use it for entertainment like interactive games. AOL has become a part of their life.

I left AOL about the time when they were having access problems. I was forced to return to AOL by my kids. And I notice they have improved a quantum leap ahead. You can carry AOL with you when you travel.

Maybe with their increasing worldwide membership, they will have to change their name since it is no longer "AMERICA on line". Maybe CYBERCOM for "Cyber Community"

Happy 1999
