Wireless Internet browser software and server player Openwave Systems today adds several new executives to its upper ranks. The company names Bruce Martin and Thomas Reardon as co-CTOs, replacing current technology chief John MacFarlane, who will continue with the company as a board member and consultant.

Martin, a seven-year Openwave veteran, most recently served as the company's vice president of technology. Reardon came to Openwave in July of 2001 through the purchase of Avogadro.

''The appointments continue our march of adding seasoned and industry experienced executives to Openwave,'' says Kevin Kennedy, chief operating officer of Openwave. ''In concert with these additions from the outside, our internal promotions recognize existing leaders. During their tenure at Openwave, Bruce Martin, Thomas Reardon and Al Etterman have demonstrated outstanding leadership and commitment to our company and technology vision.''

Other recent Openwave changes include the promotion of Al Etterman to vice president of information technology. The company also added Paul Anderson as vice president and general manager for Japan. David Hose and Dave Whalen -- coming to the company from Openwave's purchase of SignalSoft -- become vice president and general manager of Openwave's Location Services and vice president of partner and channel sales, respectively. John Yuzdepski also recently was added as vice president and general manager of Openwave's Messaging Products Group. <<
