From Mercury Mail A settlement with the FTC may require EXXON to begin running ads that refute its claims that its premium gasoline lowers the cost of car maintenance, the Wall Street Journal said. In Tuesday's electronic edition, the Journal said the settlement was expected to be announced later today. Exxon spokesman Dave Gardner told the Journal that the company is in "active negotiations" with the FTC but that the two sides "do not have an agreement finalized."
