Gateway rep told me AMD has recalled their 1GHz Tbirds (by phone, last night) She put me on hold, came back on, and said the following: "That's the Thunderbird chip you're asking about, right? I just talked to my tech guy-- things are not good, AMD has recalled those chips, and we won't be selling them again." You can imagine my alarm. I've written Toni Beckham, asking for confirm/deny. I've pulled out of all my AMD positions until I hear back from her. For reference, I spoke with an agent at 1-800-846-4510 ext. 75800 I made the call after reading a similar claim on the unreliable Yahoo board... although the post was made by a poster who's been seemingly bullish up until now. He claimed to have actually spoken with a tech guy, and was told something about a severe thermal issue-- I got no technical details out of my call, but the response I got was very firm... If anyone else could call AMD IR, call Gateway, confirm/deny somehow... please do! I want to be back in, but I can't do it until this is put to rest. Doug
