News from the Front: U.S. missiles go astray in Iran; violate Iranian airspace

Printed on Saturday, March 22, 2003 @ 14:30:36 EST

According to Iranian authorities, four missiles have fallen into the Iranian city Abadan, a major oil rich city in the southwest of Iran. The missiles were fired by U.S. forces and most likely went astray. Iraqi forces briefly occupied Abadan during the Iran-Iraq war.

The missiles caused damage to a petro-chemical plant and injured at least one Iranian civilian.

Tehran has warned the United States to stay out of its airspace, claiming that U.S. and U.K. fighter jets have violated Iranian airspace.

YellowTimes.org correspondent Firas Al-Atraqchi contributed to this report.

So much for the vaunted precision of the new munitions. Can't hit the right country. Frightening consequences for civilian casualties in Iraq. And, perhaps, in Iran.

Dubya's war is already spreading. An ominous precursor of things to come.
