I have a theory Lester that all that Buddhism, TAO, Confusionism, and Vedic knowledge is what makes the asians such mighty competitors academically, and may cause the west to underestimate them. Maybe even more importantly than having many asians with a tradition of contemplating one hand clapping-lol-or does a tree make a sound if it falls in the forest and no one is listening?; is that all of the above belief systems instruct the person to learn. We in the west, do not find that in the basic fabric of our social philosophy. We are more into faith. On the west coast asians are taking over the universities with their intellectual hard work. They and the jews are intellectual samauri-lol. I say good work. So if they can do that in our universites, imagine what asia can do to rebuild their societies now that they have the chance. And some money. I think Japan is the prototype. They made it a matter of honor to build good cars-lol. That is heavy chit man-lol. So I think the asians will keep the mines working overtime for a long time.
