Not only that, but copyright and trademark have nothing at all to do with corporate naming. Copyright is exclusively federal while Trademark is both federal and state as long as there is no conflict and then Fed rules after the filing date. State rules before the filing date. Juanita, as I am sure you already know, you have it right. A corp must only register their corporate name with the Sec of State of any state in which they intend to have a presence. The first Mountain Energy in any state gets the name for that state. It is that simple. There are some exceptions to the general rule, but none of them applies here.
