We've got a regular Peyton Place here. There's more to the story.

Starting salary for a paramedic here is $150,000 (not bad). The police chief retired with a $500,000 pension and took a job as the interim city manager because the then city manager was caught having an affair with one of the secretaries, whose husband complained. That police chief is the one who got the proposition on the ballot (to outsource the police and fire) so that they could get better benefits (just how greedy can some people be?). He was then the one who hired a guy from Utah that supported all his positions and the one who just got fired for creating so many more problems in the city.

As a side story. The ex-mayor, who got arrested, and the retired police chief were at loggerheads the entire time they were employed by the city. Even though the both of them are retired, they are still going after each other.
