if the economy does not go in the toilet, inflated dollars will be used to pay for all that stuff. if the economy does go into the toilet, the debt holders will be holding the bag and the government "make work" jobs (is government job an oxymoron?) will be the only ones many people will have. that was my reasoning in 2000 for gold investments. i have traded all kinds of sectors since then, even gold miners, but i have never sold all my gold miners on any given day. right now it is just too risky to be out of gold for a day.
