I tried to watch that last night. Eventually I gave up. I'll try to watch it again today. My husband saw the whole thing. It has stunning visuals, but the story is a mess. It's hard to know if Aronofsky simply didn't have enough time to tell his story in the short format, if he just couldn't edit the film effectively, or if his vision was as muddled as the movie.

My husband says it is a beautiful disaster. Does that make it worth seeing? I don't know. I really like Jackman and Weisz, and they do their very best here- everyone does. This movie is full of passion. Everyone obviously believes in the movie. I think it's really about 5 or 6 movies packed in to one, and it suffers from the 2001 problem of trying to make the unknowable and the ultimately transcendent "real" on film.
