I have read lots of stories of the dangers or oral medications but hadn't heard of problems first hand until today.

A woman at work spent most of yesterday at the hospital because her husband and her found her 76 yr old mother-in-law lying in bed, unable to move. Every time she raised her head she fainted.

Paramedics were called and she was taken to the hospital where they found a bleeding ulcer caused by medication she was taking for arthritis in her hip. At one point her blood pressure was 65 over 50. They figure she would have been dead within a few hours.

Today her bleeding ulcer has been repaired, she is still in hospital but should be out tomorrow.

All of this due to two extra strength aspirin plus extras when she went for a walk.

I told my co-worker of Pennsaid and hoped that she would have access to it soon since this woman's arthritis is limited to her hip only.
