no one said that marketing alone could carry the day...but clearly sun's business and stock price are influenced by far more than processor speed. most folks, in fact, would argue that most of today's application software doesn't use half the processor potential available to it. in addition, rightly or wrongly, mcnealy has has been able to cut through the market noise with a powerful restating of the prevailing vision of desktop information. applications, operating systems, workstations, internet tools...sun's business is increasingly diverse. analysts can only have it their way for so long before the numbers speak for themselves. look for sun's profits to begin an internet related rise over the next couple of years. prediction: folks will look back wistfully at their missed opportunity to own the stock at these prices. good luck backatcha.
