I remember Ford passed. They have good managers. Already, they are hunkering down and managing their company well this time around too. Everyone else has their hand out. Nikki Haley just resigned from the board of Boeing in protest over their hand being out to the government. We need to relearn what Capitalism means in this country.

For example, do we really need to bail out the cruise lines? Those cruise ships have been Petri dishes way before the Chinese virus became a problem. Why must the taxpayer bail them out? If I were President, no taxpayer dollars would go to any company unless the taxpayer got equivalent market value equity stakes or unless the cash was in exchange for a corporate bond that paid good interest rates that reflect the risk the taxpayer is taking on. In other words, no free lunch for corporations.

Truth is, it also makes my stomach churn that they are handing out checks to everyone. That is uncomfortably close to universal basic income, which I think is the worst idea since the Weimar Republic's idea to print money until their currency and financial system was destroyed. We're just hastening the day when we destroy our own. I would have far rather seen them funnel the hundreds of billions of dollars into the States' Unemployment Funds, so the states could manage their Unemployed through established and auditable processes.

Instead, we're going to have checks flying out the door with no ability to enforce who gets it and auditing in place to detect fraud and prosecute criminals. How many checks will go to fake social security numbers? How many checks will go to illegal aliens who have not paid one dime of taxes? I foresee tens of billions of dollars in fraud and theft from this hastily constructed bill.

And when it happens, I will blame BOTH Democrats and Republicans, because they did it together in Congress and both wanted it to happen. There were better ways to get money to the people and I've been saying that for awhile now. Unemployment Benefits are the way we should have gone. Simple, effective, auditable, and processes that already exist. In addition, Unemployment benefits continue until the crisis is over, instead of being a one shot check. Instead, Congress invented new and unproven tactics and they will not work. It's a window-dressing political ploy, not a real solution.
