Actually, I suppose there's nothing to prevent the Wavemeter from being used for purchases of non-digital content. Just use it as a simple electronic payment system. Why not.

Also, imagine this -- going into a local store and wandering over to the "free" rack and filling up your basket with the latest software, walking out without paying a cent. It's all wave-enabled, so of course you'll pay in a different way, in micro-payments until you decide you want the whole thing or you don't. All right, the stores might not like this (maybe they could sell copies for a buck or two), but you know the software companies, especially the gamers, would die to get the chance to get you hooked on their product.

It's going to happen.
