Worse is that the 2001 PE is the same as 2000. For whatever reason, management hasn't convinced analysts that AMD will actually make more next year (after taxes).

Yes...and that would help the stock go up as well. No investor likes to go into a stock where the earnings are projected to be flat YOY.
