For the nine-month period, sales were a record $8.184 billion, a 24% increase compared to the $6.620 billion for the same period in the previous year. Comparable store sales increased 9.2% for the third quarter on top of the 12.2% increase reported in the third quarter last year. For the nine-month period, comparable store sales increased 11.1% on top of the 14.9% increase last year.
''Comparable store sales growth for the quarter was driven by digital products, including satellite systems, DVD hardware, cellular phones, cameras and camcorders. In addition, increased sales of entertainment software including video games, music and DVD movies contributed to our strong sales gains,'' Lenzmeier said. ''We are well positioned for the holidays. Our optimism for this important retail selling season was reinforced by consumer response to our Thanksgiving weekend offers.'' >Snip
