That doesn't make any sense.

Democracy means the people get to decide, not that they are always right. Believing in democracy is believing that the people should get to choose who represents them (or in direct democracy what the policy will be), not having strong faith that they will always choose wisely.

Seeing that the people sometimes make bad choices with their votes, is just recognizing reality.

Noticing the public choice problems in any group of elected representatives is again just recognizing reality.

There is nothing magical about Democracy. It can be two wolves and a sheep voting on what to have for lunch. I care more about freedom than democracy. But democracy, for all its flaws, is more likely to support freedom than a system where the people get no say in who will rule.
