Appreciate the background and confess I did not realize there were no marsupials, (possums being introduced?). Point is though that the flora fauna comparison I made was in the idea that NZ was this hybrid of Oz and Canada. the fusion of temperate and tropical. So, although it is an ill informed impression on my part your response is actually a confirmation of my thoughts. Tropical and semi tropical flora,(unlike Canada )exotic birds etc, but no funnel web spiders, Coral Snakes etc( like Canada). Trout fishing I believe( introduced?) Alpine scenery more like Canada than Oz. Deer like Canada not Oz. It is too late and my thoughts too scattered. Hope I was slightly clearer and less bumbling. Signing off. Cheers, Ogi
