Wharfie, I know the rest of the country loves poking fun at California, but I think the one thing we got right was calling for the statewide shutdown sooner rather than later.

This is a lengthy read, but I think it's worth it. It goes behind the scenes and describes in detail how the SF Bay Area made the tough decision to institute the nation's first lockdown:

This, among other stories, should silence the know-it-alls who think, "Well geez, the rest of the nation should have ordered a lockdown earlier." I know I criticize Andrew Cuomo for waiting too long, but in his case the numbers were undisputably too high. In the case of the SF Bay Area, it was a much tougher call to make, but in hindsight it was the right one.
