The only racists are on the GOP rightwing and that's been the way it is for decades. Ever since Nixon recruited the southern racists from George Wallace it's been that way. Byrd has voted for cicil rights all the way. His involvement with the KKK was about 60 years ago when it wasn't seen as anything wrong. He regrets he ever met them. The politicians you should be conicerned about are the neocons, NRA types and religious right fanatics. All kinds of racism and prejudices in those groups.
