Since you prefer to dismiss my points rather than address them, I am not sure that I can usefully respond. I will give it a go, though....

The fact is, public opinion, after reaching historic lows, is returning to normal levels in several countries of Europe. That a Muslim country like Indonesia, which, be it noted, has had leaders recently support such opinions as that the Jews run the world, should have had a larger and more durable shift does not affect the main point.

The Indonesian President, Megawati Soekarnoputri, joined a standing ovation for her Malaysian counterpart, Mahathir Mohamad, after he called on Muslims to consider Jews as their enemy, it has been revealed.

All 57 leaders at a Conference of Islamic Nations summit applauded the comments, which have renewed regional tensions ahead of next week's APEC leaders' conference. Among them were several key figures in the post-September 11 world, including Ms Megawati; the Afghan President, Hamid Karzai; President Pervez Musharraf of Pakistan and Crown Prince Abdullah of Saudi Arabia.

Dr Mahathir's speech was met with a chorus of condemnation from leaders of non-Islamic states yesterday, including the Prime Minister, John Howard....

Would you care to explain to me what Jews did to Indonesians (and Malaysians) to elicit this kind of hostility?

As for the unipolarity problem, doubtless there is anxiety that the United States has its own agenda, and numerous items supposed to show how bad our behavior is. The question is, does it go with the territory of being the sole remaining superpower, or do we deserve it. Obviously, our opinions differ on that score.

Europe is more prone to view as baneful neoliberalism, which, in France, is sometimes called "Anglo- American economics", as such, whether Left or Right. This is so well- known, I wonder that you are bothering to argue about it.

I guess I will stop there........
