Wallace Announcement - good potential application for RFID - Printers such as Wallace are desperately trying to find new ways to add value to their business model - just putting ink on paper is rapidly becoming commoditized - and are looking to applying their "expertise" in managing the print supply chain for customers. Others in this vertical such as Donnelly, Quebecor, Moore, Quad, Relizon, Standard Register etc all have been investing heavily in fulfillment and distribution businesses for printed materials. Challenge with this vertical is that they are only modestly successful in developing new services beyond putting ink on paper. No question this is a solid strategic application of a good technology to a vertical that could benefit from it - we'll see if the tactical execution by Wallace actually generates sales.
