"Again, does that make it OK for US troops to rape, kill and pillage defenseless civilians?"
There is no justification for raping, murdering, or pillaging innocent people. It happens all over the world in times of military conflict and in times of 'peace,' but there is nothing which can excuse it. Ironically, it occurs more in so called free and peaceful society than in the presence of tyrants or during war. In the Iraq conflicts we will find such things relatively rare.
In the USA and Canada 2,597,345 people were convicted of raping, murdering, and brutalizing by their family, friends, and countrymen from 1998 to 2000.
Rapes: USA and Canada = 112,149 Assaults: USA and Canada = 2,471,997 Murders: USA and Canada = 13,199
We know that only about 1 in 4 crimes actually make it through the justice system and many of those get plea bargained down. Many don't get reported, lack of hard evidence, lawyering up, and prosecutorial incompetence gets a lot of criminals off. If your commentary weren't riding on the back of your own personal corruption, it might have actually meant something. As it is, however, we just have one more mean bash to cast onto your pile of slippery drivel. |
