To answer the earlier question: Mrs. Clinton said she had not pumped gas in a long time, given the Secret Service role in her life since 1992. Aides said that she had a driver’s license and that she sometimes used a hybrid S.U.V. back home in New York.
Mrs. Clinton paid for the morning gas — $63.67 for 16.9 gallons – and, as she has for several days now, lamented the high prices and renewed her call for a suspension of the federal gas tax during the peak summer travel months. She would pay for the relief by imposing a “windfall profits” tax on oil companies.
