e-mail <<have you ever thought of selecting for stocks you think are due for a decline, for those of your readers who like to balance their longs with the odd short? Or do you look at stocks strictly from the long side?>>> I really would address this to lastshadow since his neural network does allow for shorting. Theoretically, I do find lots of 'bad' companies in my never-ending search for earnings plays, but I don't act on them. I will try to post some choices of 'weak' companies but I suggest you paper trade those for a while. I usually find enough companies to go long on for my own satisfaction. Even today in this down market I noted a lot of good plays (MRVC,RNWK,MECK,INTC,GM,AMAT,SAVLY,BAANF etc.)
