On Malaysia, Elections, and me Buying 2k. Actually, I also took up another 2K friday. So he's not alone. I certainly need all the luck I can get but it's the best value stock that I know in the Singapore market right now. The Sing/Malaysia spat is probably going to die down after snap elections which is probably going to be called within a month which is in turn probably going to be just after the ex-DPM Anwar is jailed under the ISA. Malaysia's been the nail in the coffin for various hedge funds. Russia froze the shorts on the Rouble, Malaysia did the same on the ringgit... and index positions. Did you notice the Yen strengthening ? The oil futures going up ? Wonder why ? Coz the shorts are neutralizing their positions and licking their wounds. THeir index stop losses in Malaysian futures are being locked out... with them unable to enter to sell shares or top up because of the capital controls, the local funds are pushing the stocks and index futures up and up.... what a coup. The rules were changed masterfully. I agree with Savoirman that this is a temporary solace. The next two months are critical. Let's see what Dr M has in store. Its been a very interesting experience for us all so far.
