Personally, I find it quite amusing when scientists come out with their usual cautious discussions of uncertainties, and the ax-grinding commentators immediately jump on any admission of uncertainty as proof that nothing bad is happening.

As I posted originally, the Arctic icecap story has been developing for a year at least. I'll look up some stories when I get the chance, but I assure you that by all indications it's not some random current fluctuation that happened to open a crack at the North pole.
