Then the reporter on the panel pointed out that it's not always clear early on what is a crime and what isn't. You're right, it looks like no crime was committed in this case so the prosecutor should have dropped it.

Reporters should not be making contingency free promises to sources. And for sure if the source is spreading a lie, that should be an automatic deal breaker.
