Incredibly Off-topic
Aha! Sez you. Here's what famed English wine critic, Stuart Pigott, said when writing about some mature wines he drank this past spring:
"A romantic dinner for two at the Hotel Krone in Assmannshausen, in the Rheingau, has become a regular feature of our spring tasting tour. The extensive, reasonably priced wine list at the Krone makes indulging our taste for old wines an easy matter. This year, we started with the 1971 Rauenthaler Baiken Riesling Auslese, Langwerth von Simmern, a late-harvest Rheingau wine from a great vintage. Its freshness was extraordinary for 25 years of age, the vitality of youth perfectly intertwined with the subtle, waxy, and toasty notes of maturity. It was perfect with lobster salad and gratinated scallops, wine and food seeming to melt in the mouth."
Anyhoo, this absolutely my last post, I promise, and I go to finish packing. Good luck, all. --The Procrastinator |
