i'm not LTAO at him - i just don't think he has thought thru his scenario clearly. WI-FI lacks cellular's 2 killer apps - voice and mobility. VOIP won't really work well until IPv6 is available - still on the drawing boards i believe. As for mobility - you would have to create a huge "wired" network of WI-FI access points to get suitable coverage - is that really cost effective? then you have the problem of handing off a user from one access point to another as you move fairly rapidly from one access point to another if you are in a car.

Curious and skeptical.
