I believe you are misunderstanding Amnesty's objection to the military tribunals, which, if you recall, did not even exist until last year. What they object to is the lack of judicial review of the findings of those tribunals.

"I am from the government, trust me," isn't something I find acceptable under any other circumstances, why here?

I agree with Reagan, "trust, but verify."

We can agree in principle that Bush would never lock political enemies up and throw away the key, but how about Hillary?
