A Loyal Lexmark Buyer finally switches to HP

I buy a dozen network workgroup printers each year.
I was in love with Lexmark's OPTRA line of printers
for years, but ever since their "S" line replaced
them, I have been completely disappointed with this
new product line. I won't bore you with the
specific reasons here, needless to say is now
Lexmark is out of touch with what buyers actually
look for in a printer, and have switched over to
form from function. I find that HP's 4000 series
of printers are even better than Lexmark's old
OPTRA's in every way, and will probably never
bother with Lexmark again. Compaq using Lexmark
is simply Compaq's way of being a complete solution
just as HP and IBM are currently for the PC platform.
Most Compaq shops already use HP printers, and are
unlikely to bother with Compaq/Lexmark just for
a few cool network maintenence features that can
easially be duplicated with HP's software already,
or when using 3rd party management products like
Novell Groupware instead of Compaq's Insight.
Bottom line, is if you bought this stock for
fundemental reasons, you may wanna take profits,
cause IHMO, Epson and HP are gonna leave only
table scraps for Lexmark to fight over.
