Since Herm has not stopped by, I'll jump in and point out that after the dust settled from the Oct 98 market bottom, when VIX reached 50, it has spent almost all the time between 20 and 30, without much of a trend one way or the other. I would say anything above 30 is high, and anything below 20 is low.
