What is the essence of Christianity? Jesus crucified for your sins and resurected for your justification. What exactly does that mean and how can this essence be validated by contemporary data and observation? Before I answer, I would like to make a couple of observations. Christians maintain many beliefs. Many Christian beliefs are based on a simple faith that cannot be validated with data and observation. For example, the Bible states that God created the heavens and the earth. Christians accept this belief without observable or verifiable data, very much like the evolutionist accepts the precept that ontogeny recapitulates phylogeny. In the case of the evolutionist, he accepts the concept of evolution by faith because of the suggestive implications that are observed during the developmental stages of an individual organism. Ontogeny never presents a viable species from a beneficial mutation because it established only by implication. And yet, a new and viable species from a beneficial mutation is precisely what is needed for evolutinary theory to have a factual foudation rather than a faith foudnation. Now, it is also true that "creation science" also base their beliefs in a God-created universe on the implications of the order that exists in the universe and some might even use the law of entropy. The implications of this order in the universe and the implication of universal entropy in the universe both suggests that the universe did indeed have an origin and an architect. The ontogeny of the Evolutionists fails to validate the origin of a new species through evolution just as the entropy and inherent order of the universe fails to validate God as the creator of the Universe for the Creation-scientist. The essence of Christianity can be validated The essence of the Christian message is not to validate God's creation of the universe or to disprove evolution, but to recreate man into the image of God by recreating the human spirit withing man and then filling man with God's Holy Spirit so that man can overcome his fallen corrupt flesh and live as a son of God. How can the essence of the Christian message be verified? God tells us: "If you confess with yur mouth that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and if you believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you shall be saved." If you sincerely test God's hypothesis, then your spirit must be recreated within you and you must receive the gift of God's Holy Spirit to live within you, or the hypothesis is false. The essence of Christianity is verifiable by faith. You cannot verify evolution by faith; you can only believe it. With Christianity, you can verify by faith because faith in Christ produces an observable phenomenon that is reproducable by any sincere independent observer--the same principle applied in true hard science. Consequently, the essence of Christianity can be validated by contemporary data and observation. You can prove or disprove Christianity by your own test and observation. You can also choose to be closed minded and never test the hypothesis. May the Lord give each a desire for truth and honesty. Emile
