Are you aware of Auric Goldfinger's thread? They come across some good shorting ideas, but many seem to be short-term oriented. I prefer to place investments that are in sync with intermediate to long-term trends.

Right now, I've just built a list of several companies that were bid up to ridiculous valuations during the peak of the mania. They are down substantially, but still retain valuations significantly out of whack with the underlying fundamentals. I try to keep away from Naz100 listings, since that crap gets bought on a daily basis regardless of merit. I think somebody far wiser than myself said recently that, at the peak of the mania, we had $2 stocks masquerading as $100 stocks. Now we've got $2 stocks masquerading as $20 stocks.

I like trying to find scams, too, like XLA. But those are harder to come by. Every now and then I trip over one that smells really bad, but Auric is probably more in tune with that approach.
