Larry, I'm not Aus, but IMHO, these things are a dollar short and several days too late. "Moveable part" isn't a little disadvantage, it's a big disadvantage. And while there may be price advantages compared with today's prices, these prices will be coming down fast over the next couple of years. And it isn't just a matter of, oh this will fit my mp3 player, it is also a matter of, oh this will fit my mp3 player, my cell phone, my PDA, my camera, my car, etc. It will be the interchangeability of the SD, CF and MMC that will be a prime selling point.
Clic! has been around for awhile. It has yet to make a splash, or even a little ripple, it has only made some gurgling noises. This, IMO, is another one. As for Dataplay, I've got news for them: everyone isn't going to build their drive into their portable devices so that the disks will play in all of them. It is, like Clic!, DOA.
My opinion only. Sam
P.S. I bought more Sandisk today, at 58 and 59. If it continues to go down, I will buy more, even into the "low 40s, Zeev's worst case target, unless I hear some compelling reason why I shouldn't. I haven't heard it yet, only those vague rumors of some unspecified "production problem", which sounds, frankly, completely bogus. Be that as it may, the stock market equals risk. |
