Probart - I'm the one standing behind you waiting to buy in the sixties. I know of several people on SI who bought new SUV's (me) last year who will not be buying cr*p this year! I think we'll start to see an impact on the Auto Makers quarters after the first of the year. I expect to to see a lessening of the fear of inflation towards the later part of 99 into 2000.
Things I and my colleague Dr. Mike put on hold this year; Sailboat - used (approx. 78,000 each, dock fee 2,000 beer, ice, food, etc 3,000 for season), New SUV for Dr. Mike 30,000 (I already bought mine), One 40 acre mini-farm 170,000 (me).
In our little town we intend contribute to reducing inflation by not spending any additional monies. Oh, layoff one worker from the clinic (save 32,000 + 180 per month health insurance). She won't be buying anything additional either.
Everything is interrelated in the economy, they may get more than they bargained for (ression)! <grin> |
