Hi, geoffrey -

"Given that piracy can be economical at such low prices, you have to wonder if the greedy content providers will back a legal last mile distribution system before piracy becomes entrenched even in the US."

Or, if the hugely-profitable industries that have been founded on intellectual creativity, technology and the rights to distribute that creative output will cease to exist, in their present form.

It may be that the extent of theft overwhelms the ability to legally defend against it. Certainly the only places where such defences can be made are in countries with legally-enforceable remedies; but even in those places, piracy is rampant.

There is reason to wonder whether the present system can survive, and whether the flow of income from the public to creators and legal distributors can be maintained.

Regards,

Jim
