$34 is a carefully priced $5 discount.

For those who need to order $35 or more to get free shipping, it requires shopping more and adding at least one more item. Some people would add more than one item.

For Smithee's order, if he asks for the $5, check that the order wouldn't have higher shipping cost with the discount applied. If he only got the Fire TV Stick and he's not a Prime member, at $39 he got free shipping, but there would be a shipping cost to reduce the order to $34. [Edit: he posted that he's a Prime member]

In addition, the $34 price on the website now, is a Prime price. Sometimes a higher price applies when you're not a Prime customer. Sometimes, it's higher for Prime (I've seen ebooks at $2.99 for Prime but $.99 if not Prime).

So calling may be the way to handle it all quickly.

It sounds like Amazon noticed people ordering the Stick with nothing else, and the $5 discount takes such an order just under the $35 threshold.
