Looks like production cost economies can only improve as market moves to multicore. Huge economic advantage accrues to AMD for having demonstrated such remarkable design foresight!

It's anyone's guess just how this news, combined with Samsung's (no. 1 in Nand) embrace of AMD's new MirrorBit, will impact AMD! I mean, imagine the nerve of AMD turning the cpu status quo on its head with its Opteron and now showing signs of performing the same act with flash owing to MIrrorBit's price/performance leadership!

The market hasn't taken kindly to AMD's huge impact in re-defining the future cpu pathway, different from that proposed by INTC, and the market isn't likely to take kindly to the possibility of a wildly successful MirrorBit at a time when INTC claims to just be beginning to climb out of its deep flash hole, brought on by its price bungling a year ago! Tack on the $15 max pain proponents, who are busy weaving their trading strategy magic until Friday when options expire, and I'm afraid, no matter how good the news, AMD isn't going to escape the clutches of $15 this week!
