There have been unsuccessful attempts to get compromises to allow natural gas drilling (which CAN'T SPILL and wash up on your pristine beach) offshore (far offshore) and Florida anti-drilling forces have blocked that. See Destin Dome. Why? Don't know, and don't have time to look it up. Not going to work up a sweat defending something I probably don't agree with.
