I don't know what more they could say before a better
investigation is held. Are there any other news articles
that explain the situation? So far I know of only the one
report in the Washington Post.
BTW, and others more knowledgable than I might chime in
or contradict me, nothing seems to implicate naked DNA as
a method in and of itself, but the possible introduction
in sample of other virii. OTOH there seems to be widespread
problems in human genetic studies and some
are calling for a moratorium.

For Vical, the implied association of the stock
offering and the non-reporting seems to be
quite the black eye.
