Sadly, the combination of the stock market, the welfare system, the high taxation of regular income, the tax-free inheritance structure, and the loss of corporate job security give no incentive for people to hold down a job with an employer. It seems that the new popular definition of "poor" is anyone who has a job with an employer. I find this very disturbing.
