Hey K - yes it has been awhile, that was a long post, so buckle up:

----

(A) RE: wanted to let you know that the selling from 29 to 23 has been led by the institutions

Does not surprise me - they are bigger idiots than the individual momentum trader types. Follow the fool is what these types do best and my reaction is so what?

Instit. %ge in LSI is around 40%. That is 56 million shares. Compare this to ALTR, XLNX and even NSM (changed today!) - all well into the 70-80% ranges for instit. interest. So if BOB Institution wants to sell fine by me. There aren't that many left. Let's say they disposed of say 6 million shares - that would bring the %ge to 36% instit. interest - great IMO.

I don't get the types of ROEs that I get by doing what the institutional boys do. I tend to do the exact opposite of what the big boys do - not perversely so - but because I just seem to get regularly lucky picking up bargains that these guys throw out every now and then - often amazingly lucky.

I have time on my side - they don't. They have thousands of irate mutual fund investors to deal with I have the beach and my cycle to deal with.

People often talk so highly of these institutional types - yet mutual funds returns suck & turnover is way past 100%. Not exactly my idea of a Great Leader Type. If the proof is in the pudding the pudding tastes pretty bad.

Let others follow what the big boys do. I don't.

(B) RE: In fact, 2 minutes before the close today One MILLION shares were offered at 23. Yes ONE MILLION at the ask for 23. Now that is scarey. Does someone know something we don't?

Yes behind closed doors Monica was caught with Corrigan.

----

(C) RE: something is happening behind closed doors that we cant see OR LSI is still being punished for its great debacle of 1997 or maybe orders have suddenly weakened and news of that has leaked out.

LSI is being punished for coming 1c below expectations, a pushout of the Gresham fab by a couple of months, a reduction in the GM for this year. And yes enough of people have not forgotten 1997 or early 1996 for that matter.

Could orders have suddenly weakened? Sure - LSI does turn on a dime. Japan is the big wild card. This is a bugaboo that could mess up everyone - I have mentioned it enough of times - it would be tough for LSI to be completely immune to the perturbations in the PC sector + Asia. If orders have weakened fine by me - more buying opportunities. Those customers with LSI's designed in chips are not going to WalMart to get duplicate chips. It just means the whole electronics area is going to hell. Which is always a possibility with Japan etc etc.

A million is a lot - if the semis had been up today and LSI had 1 million at the ask I'd be bothered. Anytime Asia pops up LSI and semis get smacked - NSM and Kurlak (not coincidence) did not help.

(D) Re: This company is not marketting itself very effectively to the investment community

They lost face with the "inventory inventory" thing and promises that did not materialize. And yes they do not market themselves well - again fine by me - I am accumulating - less institutional interest the better.

----

(E) RE: Also they manage the analysts very poorly IMO and are not trusted by that group

I agree.

----

(F) RE: Maybe its time for you to talk to Diana again, the 800 number is posted on the yahoo message boards

Darn and I have been using a 408 number all along.

----

(G) RE: Even though you have a type C personallity you can't get a good perspective on your investments by sitting behind a computer screen just reading all day

I usually get my perspective before I buy in. I yack here for fun. Nothing much will change my decision once I have made it.

No I do not sit behind a computer and read all day - I'm on my bike all day, playing soccer, going to the beach or yacking to bodacious babes.

----

(H) RE: You have to talk to the people, rather than simply having them talk AT you.

You have your style I have mine. Mine works.

I ask tough questions but I do not accuse. I respect people - most do not.

----

(I) RE: Look at it this way, at least with a phone call you can't get lost.

That only happens when I drive. But my stocks are in a brokerage account and they have found their way to a better than a triple the last 2 years. I may get lost, my stocks rarely do.

Shane (if the weather sucks I'll call LSI - if it is sunny forget it. The market is high.)
