Problem with Capstone is that only their smallest output turbine is rated to run on "..biogas.."*, which is the cheap way to create alternative energy. That is a 35KW unit as I recall; enough for about 4 moderate sized homes.

The next step up in "..biogas rated.." electrical generating turbines is GE's (formerly Solar's) 1.5MW unit.

The range between 35,000 and 1,500,000 watts, where most commercial and industrial applications lie, is a void that must be served by piston-driven engine generator sets in either single or paralleled installations. Piston machines are much more expensive to maintain over time, especially if serving as Prime Power units. Multiple-paralleled Capstone units are expensive and complicated.

Before going stark staring bonkers over Capstone, make sure you know what their capabilities are. If their installations are based on pipeline natural gas or delivered turbine fuel (JP1 or equivalent) they can be made immediately uneconomical by increased fuel rates.

John :-)

ps: The solution to the nations's major power problems is to shoot all the g-d'd treehuggers & Demoncrats, and pay attention to what the hell the ultility systems power engineers tell you.

* Biogas (40% methane + 60% CO2) can be efficiently produced by anaerobic digesters using animal manure form dairies/feedlots/etc., slaughter-packing plant wastes, food plant biproduct streams, paper plant sludges, food garbage, etc. You will see much more news from this sector in the near future.
