I agree sooo much on that one. To justify a couple of extra-territorial military interventions to protect the biggest American multinationals which were nationalized by a few poor countries, the US gov't and medias, which are most of the time the same voice as big multinational corporate, did a lot of propaganda against ANY forms of moderation by the State, anything that was too far form liberalism. Actually US were far from being the only to do it; UK, France and the columnist empires of the past also had rights to defend in other territories. All capitalists know that communism is a brake to the growth of the biggests. Communism is theoritically a good concept but it goes against the living being's nature : egoism, or IOW, assured survival, then comfort, material possession... So communism has too often to cut it's citizen liberty (liberty to be egoist) to make sure that the system works. IOW our nature makes a livable communism impossible.
The socialism we have in Canada and Québec isn't real socialism. It's a liberal system with high taxes and less big corporate-oriented system and better living condition for the poorer. Josef Wrote :
PS: All my friends who lived in Montreal escaped to Toronto, because if socialism is not enough, Quebec is run by socialists who happen to be very nationalistic and intolerant to minorities. Once vibrant city of Montreal - one of my favorite places to visit on this continent is turning into a very dull place.
As for the nationnalism, it must not be confounded with socialism. Nationalism in Quebec is a mix of fear that the French get flooded by the English, especially in Mtl where there's still only half of the pop that speaks french at home, and rancour for the past. What would be any big US city reaction if the english language was so much threatened? Montreal will probably be 70% english in 30 years...
I don't really justify the behaviour of nationalist, I explain it. Human nature says beautiful thing on itself but most of the time, the morality is pushed away in favor of the preservation of it's situation. Survival takes several faces.
